Urban land redistribution: evidence from a government run land lottery in Burkina Faso
The World Bank
February 1 2010 - December 31 2015
Abstract: This project studies the causal links between land ownership and economic well-being in peri-urban Burkina Faso, using a unique land lottery which is planned by the Government to increase access to property by low- and middle-income households. The lottery for fully serviced plots of land is scheduled to take place in early 2010 near Bobo Dioulasso, the country’s second largest city. The impact evaluation will exploit the random assignment of the program to measure its effects on access to credit, household welfare, and investment in human capital.

Gender and Social Protection Programs in Developing Countries: A Randomized Evaluation of Conditional and Unconditional Cash Transfers in Rural Burkina Faso
The World Bank, National Bureau of Economics Researcg
January 01 2008 - December 31 2011
Abstract: This study uses a randomized experimental design to evaluate the impact and compare the effectiveness of four resource transfer programs to poor households in developing countries: conditional cash transfers given to the mother, conditional cash transfers given to the father, unconditional cash transfers given to the mother, and unconditional cash transfers given to the father. The study will compare the interventions’ educational, health, and early childhood development impacts in Nahouri province in southern Burkina Faso from 2008 to 2011.

Demographic Pressure and Institutional Change: Village-Level Response to Rural Population Growth in Burkina Faso
National Bureau of Economic Research
November 1 2008 - June 30 2011
Abstract: This project exploits historical census data from Burkina Faso, including population shocks associated with forced repatriation of migrants from Cote d’Ivoire and a new village level survey to test to what extent higher population densities are associated with a transition from open-access to private property rights.
