About Dr. William S. Spears
Founder and CEO of Energy Education, Inc. Bill Spears graduated from OSU in 1962 with a degree in marketing. He continued his education, earning his M.B.A. at the Wharton School of Business and his PhD at Wayne Huizenga Graduate School of Business and Entrepreneurship in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. In 1986 Spears founded Energy Education, Inc., a Dallas based company that develops and implements energy conservation programs that enable schools to redirect funds toward educational needs. Twenty-three years later, Energy Education has helped public schools and other organizations save more than $1.7 billion. It is recognized as the only people-based energy conservation program of its kind. Energy Education received the 2009 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year award from the United States Environmental Protection Agency. Spears, who believes deeply in the power of education, provided a generous gift to endow his alma mater in 2004. Through his leadership, vision and commitment, he improved the quality of business education for current and future business students. He was inducted into the Spears School Hall of Fame in 2005.
